EVENT DETAILS

On Saturday, October 27, join with others who are committed to racial justice, equity, and inclusion at the Anti-Racism Organizing in the Suburbs (AROS) MetroWest symposium. Gain knowledge about structural racism, share strategies about anti-racist campaigns, and strengthen local anti-racism organizing efforts.

The AROS Symposium will include a keynote address by Debby Irving, a Racial Justice Educator and author of Waking Up White, and Finding Myself in the Story of Race. Workshops may include: Housing Justice; Confronting White Supremacy in the Criminal Punishment System; Racial Disparities in Health; Confronting the Complexities of Racial Diversity on Campus; Understanding the Impacts of Race on Suburban Children; METCO Building Bridges; Eliminating Harmful Native American Stereotypes; White People Challenging Racism; and Coming Together to Address Hate Speech/Hate Crimes.

The symposium is co-sponsored by Community Change Inc. and Regis College’s Center for Inclusive Excellence.

The AROS MetroWest symposium will take place at Regis College from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Register by September 14 for the early-bird special rate of $75. Beginning Saturday, September 15  the rate will be $125. The student rate is $15. If you are paying the student rate, you must bring your student ID the day of the event.

In keeping with the values of Community Change Inc., this symposium strives to be accessible to a full economic array of participants. Those who find regular registration rates beyond their economic means may volunteer their time and attend the full conference at a reduced rate. For details, please contact Shay Stewart-Bouley at shay@communitychangeinc.org.

Whether or not you attend, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Community Change, Inc. to help advance this important racial justice work. A gift of $250 will subsidize a workshop at the symposium. A gift of $75 will help someone attend the symposium who couldn’t otherwise afford to attend. Gifts of any amount are appreciated. You can donate on the registration page or by clicking here.
